Pike Place Market is usually the first place visitors to Seattle check out, and for good reason. Pike Place is one of the best markets I’ve seen in North America, with stunning (and cheap!) bouquets of flowers, an incredible array of seafood, and loads of fresh produce for you to sample. The fishmongers at the main entrance can usually be found flinging fish back and forth into the crowd, which makes for a very entertaining few minutes. As cliched as it is, Pike Place is more often than not my first stop in Seattle, partly because I usually have Seattle newbies with me, and partly because I really do love it. Nothing says ‘Welcome to Seattle’ than some flying fish and a trip down the street to the first ever Starbucks.
